Thank you for your interest in AetherDrift Magazine!
AetherDrift Magazine is always excited to receive cool comics, art, cartoons, and short stories in any genre, and we’d love to see what you have to contribute! Please read through the entire policy before submitting – it will greatly improve the odds that your hard work appears in our periodical, and, after all, that’s what we ALL want.
1) COMICS FOR AETHERDRIFT MAGAZINE
a) Send low-resolution files (72 DPI and no bigger than 10” at their largest dimension) in JPG or PDF format to aetherdriftmagazine@gmail.com with “AetherDrift Magazine Comic Submission” as the subject line for the message. Please note that we only accept submissions by email.
b) We only accept completed comics for consideration. We have a strong preference for full-color short stories ranging from 1 to 8 pages. That being said, we will consider longer works, which may be serialized over several issues. Works that fall within the 1 to 8 page range have a much better chance of being placed quickly. It is also beneficial if your work is formatted to fit the dimensions of our magazine – 8.25” x 11.125” – but it is not required. If your work is formatted for a standard comic, we may print it with open space along the margins.
c) We do accept reprints, so even if your story’s been published somewhere else before, please feel free to send it to us. Tell us in the body of your email where and when the comic was published, i.e. the name of the publication in which it appeared and the date it was published.
d) Previews of new comic series are featured in AetherDrift, although we will only consider the first issue of a series as a submission. Please note in the body of your email that you are submitting an entire comic book for consideration as a preview. Our team will assess how much of the issue we will include in the magazine, trying to achieve balance between giving the reader a good taste of your story and leaving them wanting more. Links will be included in AetherDrift’s online magazine directing traffic to your comic.
e) We accept 4-panel comic strips and single panel cartoons, preferably in color, although in this category b/w strips have a higher likelihood of making the cut than b/w short stories do.
f) Please do not submit comics featuring explicit sex, bestiality, or graphic BDSM. We accept R-rated material, but not X-rated. You can do your own research on this one. Also note that we don’t publish material that promotes bigotry of any kind.
g) RESPONSE TIME: It can take a while to hear back from us due to the number of
submissions we receive. That being said, we’ll try to acknowledge receipt of your submission within a week, and will do everything in our power to get back to you regarding publishing your work within three months. As a quarterly magazine, it can sometimes take a full publishing cycle to discern whether or not we will be including your piece in our next issue.
2) COVERS AND PINUPS FOR AETHERDRIFT MAGAZINE
a) If you’d like to submit single page art to AetherDrift, we have “Gallery” and “Featured Artist” sections in the magazine to display these types of works. Featured Artists AND artists whose work appears in the Gallery will have their name published with the piece and a link to a web page where their art is on display.
b) If your single page art is used as a cover, you will be contacted to follow up with an interview to be our Featured Artist in the issue that proudly bears your cover.
c) There is no page rate for single page art; they are for promotional purposes only.
3) PROSE AND ARTICLES FOR AETHERDRIFT MAGAZINE
a) AetherDrift Magazine accepts submissions of prose (short stories) and articles for publication.
Stories should be no longer than 2000 words. Again, we print R-rated material, but nothing X-rated. See 1f) above. Content can be in any genre, but we do have a soft spot for Science Fiction, Fantasy, and all their sub-genres. Stories should be cool and offer something unexpected. We don’t do well-written, but boring, here at AetherDrift! Surprise us and leave us wanting more!
b) Articles submitted to AetherDrift should be between 400-600 words, thought-provoking and timely, and address subjects that appeal to comic and geek culture. See 1f) above.
Also, all contributors will receive an official publication confirmation to add to their professional resumes.
If, after reading though all that (whew!), you still have any questions, please feel free to connect with us through the contact form on the website or send a note to us at aetherdriftmagazine@gmail.com.
Thanks for your interest in AetherDrift Magazine, and all the best to you!
